Rona Topaz

I’m a singer, songwriter, vocal coach, published poet and choir leader with lived experience of the mental health system.
I have been dividing my life between Islington and Berkshire for the last decade and I have now committed to finding a permanent home in Islington, the best borough in London (prove me wrong lol)
THATCHER’S CHILDREN
Looking back over many years
Shocked that so little has changed
Back then, the leaders were children
But old attitudes still remain
No compassion for our needs
Truth desecrated by greed
Where are those values of necessity?
Decimated by degrees
New generation
The same as the old
Hoisting the barricades up once again
One rule for rich
And the other for poor
When will we say we can’t take any more?
New generation
This one more cruel
More people dying now
Under their rule
Forgiveness for rich
No mercy for poor
When will we say we can’t take anymore?
Destroying the NHS
and welfare state
But we saw it coming, back then
Now some are fighting
Too little
Too late
Cause some fences may never mend
And it continues, apace
Were too apathetic to care
Reform are leading the chase
Whilst we follow on, unaware
New generation
The same as the old
Hoisting the barricades up once again
One rule for rich
And the other for poor
When will we say we can’t take any more?
But some of us know
That there are fights we can win
Some have now gone
But those who fight on
Know well never give in
Oh…you know we’ll never give in
New generation
The same as the old
Hoisting the barricades up once again
One rule for rich
And the other for poor
When will we say we can’t take any more?
New generation
This one more cruel
More people dying now
Under their rule
Forgiveness for rich
No mercy for poor
When will we say we can’t take anymore?
When will we say we can’t take anymore?
